I set up keepass data base using both a master password and key file. The key file is stored at location other than the program and database. The data base and program are store on a portable hard drive. At this location I can access the data ( passwords)with no issues.
I want to move the data base and program to drop box. When I copied the program to the drop box, I get an error message:>>>> Failed to load the specified file>>. The composite key is invalided.
What is correct process for moving the data base file and the key file.

In your reply, please be specific. Do not assume I know anything.

The only file you need to open a database is the databae file itself, unless you also use a key file.
You can copy the database to anywhere that you like and it will not affect your ability to open it.

The message you are getting means either the password or key file are not correct. Check that you are selecting the correct key file and that you have typed the password correctly.

    cheers, Paul

p.s. don't forget to backup your database. See the Backup Wiki for details.

BTW, you can open a remote database without KeePass.exe by using the online version of KeeWeb.
