126 bit Password

    Hi,

    Just wondering if a 126 bit strength master password is suffiecient.

    I work from home so just family in the house and pw is only recorded on paper! A few times around the house ect!!

    Yes.

    (That's for 128-bit keys...for 126 bits divide by four, so you'd "merely" need the entire energy output of 2^13 stars to crack it).

    This assumes you've actually calculated the entropy of your master password correctly. Plugging a long quote from a popular song lyric into an entropy calculator will give you a false entropy. Generating multiple diceware words and calculating the entropy by hand will give you a good answer.

    Even if it only takes 50 years to crack your password there is no chance anything will still be vaild.
