Gnome 50 has removed X support and KDE is set to remove this in 2026.
KPUInput allows KeePass to send keypresses to other windows under Wayland, facilitating Auto-Type.
However, Wayland does not provide a method to get the title of the currently active window, therefore window-sequence association is not possible.
I would like to propose a partial workaround:
When configuring Auto-Type, you have to specify the target window title.
Often, there can be many KeePass Entries which will match, as webpages use the same page title (and hence have the same browser window title), eg "Login".
In these cases KeePass lists all the matches and you have to choose the Entry applicable to the webpage.
With Wayland, there is no window title available, and therefore KP would have to display all Entries in it's database which would be unmanageable.
Feature Request: Allow this list to be filterable, eg by right clicking an Entry or Group, context menu, "Only display matches for this Entry".
You typically have had to find an Entry anyhow, to be able to execute "Open URLs" and therefore this additional step would not be a big inconvenience and greatly help with window-sequence association under Wayland.
Two further enhancements:
1 A toolbar button to clear the filter.
2 The ability to link the filtering to other Entries/Groups.
There will often be related Entries, eg in a Bank's multi stage authentication webpages.
Perhaps the linking could be done via Entry/Group tags - ie the filter would apply to the Entry/Group selected, and any others that possess an identical tag.
Best wishes
David
