    Dear Forum,

I currently have 1 original password database, and 1 backup of it. I have an original which I use on my home PC, and one that is portable. I would like to make one further backup, which I would like to store 'in the cloud'. How would I go about doing this, please?

The cloud backup procedure for a KeePass database is the same as for local backup. except the storage location is a cloud storage service. Protect databases that might be exposed with a strong, inaccessible master key. Don't store a database key file with its database.

Backup of a KeePass database depends on the database master key.

    • If the database master key is password only. Make a copy of the password database only.
    • If the database master key included a key file. Make a copy of the password database and the key file.
    • Backup is much more complex if the database master key includes the Windows User Account because you will need to restore the Windows User Account. This is a nontrivial task.

See the KeePass Backup Wiki for more information about KeePass backup.
