Hi first question here. I like KeePass a great deal.
Can someone please clarify that if there is need to delete a Windows account (or something is wrong with it) and create a new one, or worse still that the hard disc fails, is there a way to ensure the database is recoverable. The Help menu mentions that you can make the database dependent on the current user account. But I don't see how to do that (or rather to make sure it is not dependent). I am using version 2.
Thank you

All of the things you mention will render the database unusable. The only safe way to use a Windows account to secure KeePass is to export the database every time you save, but this isn't much fun.. Stick to a password or key file, or both.

Ah OK. Well I do use a long Master password for the database so presumably then that makes it safe as long as the database file is backed up. Now that I come to think of it I did have trouble with a user account last year and I took the PC back to the shop that built it. They simply copied the whole My Document folder to the Desktop of another new usable user account. I then copies the contents of that My Documents (containing the KeePass database) to the new My Documents folder on the new account ands it was accessibly using my Master Password.

KeePass only encrypts one file, the database.
If you only use a master password you can copy the database anywhere and it will work.
If you use a key file you need to copy the key file and the database.
If you use Windows user account you are stuck on one machine.
cheers, Paul
