I know KeePass has the option to always display on top of other windows:

    View > Always on Top

however, it would be convenient if there was a button to toggle this option for each entry. The app "Stickies" has this feature:

Other than the main window, which shows all the entries in your database in a scrollable list, KeePass doesn't have the ability to display more than one entry at a time AFAIK. This would seem to be a prerequisite for a feature such as this, so I don't understand exactly what it is you're asking for.

What I mean is, it would be good to be able to open an entry and then toggle "Always on Top" as you need it. For my application, I sometimes need an entry on top, other times not and it is inconvenient to always toggle by the "View" menu.

    Something like this:

Ok, I think I get it; you're saying that for you, whether or not the Always on Top setting should be on or off is more dependent on which entry you're editing at the time. Dominik has said in the past that the Edit Entry window is not really intended to be left open for extended periods; that is, he expects people to open it only when an entry's data needs to be changed and to use the main window when just viewing their data - so I wouldn't expect this to get added to the main program. However, it is possible that some other programmer might read this and construct a plugin to add this feature.

Thanks. I use one KeePass database for passwords, and another for "how to" stuff which has a lot of text in the "Notes" section of the entries. So having the option to keep the "Edit Entry" window on top when reading and following the instructions would be handy. I use KeePass for this job because the search box makes it easy to find exactly what item I am looking for.

Very innovative use for KeePass - but not one that a lot of other people would think of. Another reason that it's unlikely that the feature you're requesting will make it into KeePass except in the form of a plugin.

"Dominik has said in the past that the Edit Entry window is not really intended to be left open for extended periods; that is, he expects people to open it only when an entry's data needs to be changed and to use the main window when just viewing their data"

I store other information relevant to the site in the Notes and need the Edit Entry window open to see it, for instance, when answering/editing several additional identifier questions (mother's maiden name, etc.). I don't use the actual information from memory, rather substitute strings generated by KeePass, so I need to cut'n'paste them when requested.

I agree that an Always on Top selector for the Edit Entry window would be useful, even if only one open entry window is allowed.

It is not necessary to open the entry for editing to view or copy data from the Notes field. Select and copy works directly from the Notes field in the Entry View Pane (View>Show Entry View).

The KPEnhancedEntryView plugin can also mange data in an entry's Notes field, and is especially suited to managing data contained in custom string fields. Answers to security questions are particularly suitable candidates for custom string fields where the field name is the question and the field value is the answer e.g.:

custom field name: Mothers maiden name?
    custom field value: Thompson

Given that reasonable means to transfer data from all entry fields already exist in KeePass, it seems unlikely that the designated role of the Add/Edit entry dialog (i.e. exclusively used for adding and editing data) will be changed.
