I want to change the password that I am using for KeePass and leave the key file as is. I don't want the password generated. I want to chnage it to a specific password. I tried Custom. Can't seem to get that to work. Thanks.

I want to change the password that I am using for KeePass and leave the key file as is.

I think you have asked how to change the Master Key of your KeePass password database.

To change the Master Key of your database:

    1. Backup your database (make a copy of it with a new name)
    2. Open your database in KeePass
    3. From the KeePass menu select File>Change Master Key...
    4. In the 'Create Composite Master Key' dialog
      • Enter a new password iin the Master Password field
      • In the 'Key file/provider' section use the browse button to select the original key file.
      • Press OK
    5. Save the database
    6. Close the database
    7. IMPORTANT Re-open the database and enter the new Master Key in the Enter Master Key dialog. The database should open.
    8. Once you have confirmed that you can open the database using the new Master Key:
      • Make backup(s) of the database and save in a secure location.
      • Delete the old backup that you created in step 1.

Thank you for the instructions. I did that and it worked just fine.
