Restoring my database

Long story short, "someone" took the flash drive out of my pc and I can't find it anywhere. I don't worry it was stolen and they could hack into it because the master password is much too complicated. The only files I found are KeePass.config.xml in %appdata% dated Nov. 2019 and some saved files named SecurePsswrds, the most recent being .20200917101922 but no kdbx file. I've put the software onto a flash drive and opened that file, (after changing the choice from .kdbx to all file types) using the same master password I've been using. But it's now named the same as that file and no extension .kdbx. I searched windows for .kdbx and it says SecurePsswrds.kdbx is located in the same place as that file and my other saves. Yes, I have my folders set to show hidden files. So, I don't know what to do next. Thanks for any guidance.

KeePass 2.44 and later have an option in File>Open>Find Files... to search all of your attached drives for KeePass database files.

    • Quick looks for files that have the .kdbx file extension.
    • Normal looks for all password database files, regardless of the file extension. But it takes longer.

If these options don't find any database files, then your only option is to restore a copy from a backup, if you have one.

    Going forward:

    • Backup your database. See the KeePass Backup Wiki
    • Document your database master key using File>Print>Print Emergency Sheet....

Thank you, Wellread. I found it and learned something at the same time. Thanks. It got plugged into the back usb port that is very concealed. I think my son was trying to access the card slot for a camera and just forgot. It's on G instead of F drive now. Thanks for your time.
