I have recently set up Keepass 2.1 on windows 7 PC. Created a database and have used it for last 2 weeks.
Yesterday I had slow Firefox Browser and was advised by Mozilla firefox (23.0.1) to reset to improve response.

When i logged on to keepass today the program would not accept the master password. KeyPass window as below:

"Failed to load the specified file!

        The composite key is invalid!

Make sure the composite key is correct and try again."

I am certain the Master password was entered correctly.

Could the Firefox reset affect the master password on KeePass? I think most settings on KeePass were set to default.

I have recreated a new KeePass database today and I am able to use it correctly, but to continue to use KeePass I need to have confidence the "..composite key is invalid.." issue will not occur again.

    Please help

Firefox will not reset the KeePass master key.
It is possible you were using a key file as well as a password, or you are using the wrong file.
Have you tried a backup of the database?

    cheers, Paul

    Thanks Paul

Unless Key file option was set as default on the initial set up I don't think this was the problem. I just used my own Master Key.

I have recreated a new database and will "cautiously" use it alongside Norton Identity Safe, to see which is more reliable.

    Thanks again

We have had a number of reports of people not being able to open a database, but no demonstrable case where the error was KeePass - we have had people "remember" the password and be able to open the database.

    cheers, Paul
