    Hello Everyone,

I am having very slow speed problems with Keepass 2.09 because my database is so big. Keepass 1.x was much faster  before I moved to 2.09. I have been using 2.08, 2.09, etc. since their release. So, I would like to know how I can turn the security features on 2.09 "down" such that it is equal to or just a tad more secure than the 1.17 settings to see if that will speed things up without me compromising too much security. 2.09 is bogging me down considerably. I love the program, except the speed is terrible on the larger DBs.

    Thanks.

    Joe

You cannot turn the settings down and even if you could it would not increase the speed of KeePass.

Please explain exactly what is slow and how you tested? We will try to replicate the problem.

    cheers, Paul

My .kdbx file = 310,053,134 bytes

    1. Time to open this .kdbx file with Keepass v2.09. The time from clicking on the OK button after entering the password to the time the database is displayed and ready for me to click on something else = 2 min. 12 sec.

    2. Time for me to open a *certain* Keepass Group - my biggest Group. The time from clicking on this Group to the time the group is displayed and ready for me to click on something else = 4 min. 19 sec.

My CPU = AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+

What have you got in the database? Are you storing lots of documents?
You are better off using TrueCrypt for files and KeePass to open TrueCrypt.

    cheers, Paul

    For the record,

When I converted the database from 1.16 to 2.08:

    07/23/2009  04:54 PM       203,199,260 X.kdb
    07/25/2009  12:48 AM       273,973,038 X.kdbx

    The Ratio = 1.3482974199807617409630330346675

1.16 was much faster than 2.08 after the conversion with no additional entries.
