ctrl+shit+alt+a auto-type WinXP vsphere client no longer working

I updated keepass yesterday to 2.28 and since then the auto-type does not work for vmware vshpere client (5.5) on windows xp sp3. My shortcut is ctrl+alt+shift+a. This used to work fine previously (I use vsphere at least once a day, 7 days a week)
So far its the only one that doesn't work for me, but then again, I don't have much auto-typing to do.
PS: in the auto-type window, you can add the same target window over and over again. It doens't bother me enough to create a new ticket, but noticed this when I added the vshpare window again, as I wasn't sure if it was a window title thing or not, so I added it 3 times (re-testing after each addition).
After it did the same thing in FireFox, just popping up the auto-type window and not typing anything after selecting the appropriate entry, I applied the old windows "fix": reboot. That cured it for vsphere also. (I rarely reboot my PC)
I'd close this ticket myself but I don't see a button for this action.
