Having followed Blender very closely for about 3 years (and spent quite a large number of hours using it), I have a few thoughts on this. It was mentioned in a recent discussion that Blender has some innate limits that are the result of design decisions that were made at the time of its inception. These need to be corrected at some point, and this will not be a trivial task. I'm not even sure how much the UI can be improved given the lack of modularity with respect to the code. While I'm sure features can be added (to a point), and bugs can be fixed, as far as I can tell, the major changes will require a great deal of effort and a significant amount of time. Though I think the K3d interface stuff needs some polish (and mostly, it needs to run without segfaulting at the simplest things), there's a lot to like about how things have been put together. This is all I'm going to say for now, because I want to be sure that this is I'm not left with the uneasy feeling that I'm talking to myself as I have with my last few posts. Regards, Tom |
