I strongly, strongly encourage you to switch to 0.7 for any script-writing. Although K-3D 0.7 is technically an "unstable" release, in practice it is superior to 0.6 in every way. In the K-3D 0.7 source tree, take a look at share/scripts/scripted_Plugins/ac3d_exporter.py share/scripts/scripted_plugins/ogre_exporter.py for examples of scripts that export mesh data using Python.
