Go to Scripting > Script Editor.  Suggest you try loading one of the 
sample Python scripts from k3d/share/scripts.  What you see there is 
what you get ;)

The Python configuration issue should be fixed as of 10 tens ago, you 
shouldn't have to use --without-python anymore, otherwise let me know.

How's Ubuntu (sp?) Linux?
