Dear Rachmat, My preferred editor for development of dynamically interpreted servlets is the open-source JEDIT (wwww.jedit.org) tool. It offers good text editor function like split screen and a block select mode. It also adds colored Python syntax highlighting and source code encoding conversions, like UTF-8, required for cross platform portability. For deployment i´ve implemented a HTTP file upload function using the " com.oreilly.servlet.multipart" Java package. The upload function also implements the user authentication steps and was written itself as a Jython servlet. script. This is my hot web deployment feature :-) For sure, the FTP utility does the same job as well. The process combines the flexibility of a local Windows based development IDE with the power of a central LINUX run-time server. The dynamic deployment works best under the Jetty version 6 web servlet container. Sometimes I also use the Eclipse based Rational Software Developer Version 7 (RSA) which also implements a Jython syntax highlighter, The RSA requires a couple of manual steps to go "live", to create a .war file by jar command and doing the deployment into the web application server by admin console restarting the application component.
