You don't have to run jythonc or compile any Java code. That is the beauty of using Jython. Instead, consider writing a .bat or .sh script (depending on your platform) that does something like this: java -classpath jython.jar;other-jars-as-necessary org.python.util.jython myscript.py Make sure you use the stand-alone jython.jar, it has everything you need including the standard Python library.
