First of all, since I am new here: thank you, sir, for this font! It has been my absolute favourite for use with XeLaTeX for many, many years now!
My issue is this: I have noticed that the Junicode OpenType rare/discretionary ligature feature (dlig
), while mostly containing general "language-independent" typographic ligatures, such as ct, st, tr, and tt (in addition to the special cases Roman numerals and circled characters), also changes the letter combination hv into the ƕ hwair ligature, which I learn is used specifically and exclusively for modern transliteration of Gothic. It seems reasonable to want to switch on the former rare but "general" ligatures, without switching on a ligature which ought not to be used outside the very specific context of Gothic transliteration (the letter combination hv is quite prevalent e.g. my first language Swedish, in particular with older spelling). Hence, I would like to humbly request the ƕ hwair ligature be moved from dlig
into another feature.
Alternatively, if OpenType permits it, it could perhaps remain in
dlig
, but be switched off via a stylistic set?Alternatively, if appropriate, the general typographic ligatures (such as ct, st, tr, and tt) could perhaps be moved out of
dlig
and into another ligature (or feature) class?Last edit: Kasper Sundström 2019-03-09
Well, that is very weird. I have no idea why I put that ligature in dlig. There should be no ligature for hwair at all, in my (present) judgment. I'll remove it.
I see. Very well, thank you very much!
I mean I'll remove the OpenType lookup, not the hwair itself!
