Hi Guido, recently I had an idea about synching GPS- and variodata (-> using marks) that might even be worth patenting it. I order to avoid problems with manufacturers that might want to do that (who knows, and shit happens) I would like to ask you to add the following paragraph to the spec - which should be some kind of public announcement - and commit it to the repository asap: ### Data synchronisation Data synchronisation between the Vario-barogram and the GPS-track is an essential feature of JFlight. It is done offline which causes some problems. This can be avoided by the following means: 1) The reliable way: Setting "marks" in both data-sets (nearly) at the same time. Mark setting is a device-dependent feature: - For the Bräuniger it is done by pressing the "marker" key. - For a Garmin-GPS the easiest way for later evaluation is pressing two-times "mark / enter" in a row which not only creates two new waypoints but also two track-coordinates. 2) If marks are not available checking height, speed and coordinates for significant changes and exeeding of certain threshholds can do the same, but is less reliable. The best approach would be a "best-of" of 1 and 2. ### Thanks! Rüdiger |
