it is me again. Meanwhile I got things work doing the following steps:
 
1) Deleted "src/jflight/flightbook/FlightbookDialog.java".
2) Removed all files from the JBuilder project window (left side).
3) Added the package "jflight" to the project list.
4) Changed under "Project Properties" the main class to
   "jflight.main.Main" and added a path for "Application parameters".

The build then ran propperly and the application started with some
warnings about missing port setup and flightbook files. The bug with the
missing german special charakters (äüö etc.) is still there, may be it
is due to a bug in the jdk. I will try jdk-1.3 later.
