I think it should warn, personally. Perhaps even have a preference setting which toggles between having it allowed or not, in an "Advanced" preferences pane or something to that effect, and if it is allowed, warn (once per session, probably) when it happens.

I've only been using my Rio Car for a month. I rushed to
get the Rio Car installed before a three-week road trip, and
used JEmplode to install my music library. So forgive me if
this is a stupid comment, but how is it useful to allow
non-MP3 files to be loaded? My mp3 directory contained 6386
.mp3 files, but it also contained 497 .m3u files and about a
dozen other files. Once I was on the road, I discovered
that only about 600 of the
.mp3 files had been loaded, despite leaving Jemplode running
overnight, and no error message having been displayed.
That's probably not related ot the non-mp3 file issue, but
it did load a lot of the m3u files and other non-.mp3 files,
and every time the player would try to play one, it would
stop and I'd have to manually advance to the next track.
After this, I feel fairly strongly that the default should
be to only load mp3 files, or other files that the player
knows how to handle.
It also would be nice to turn .m3u files into playlists that
the Rio Car can understand, but that's a separate issue so
I'll open a feature request for that.
