The Console documentation mentions that Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V can be used in the Console pane to copy and paste text, but these shortcuts were not working work for me. After these changes, the shortcuts work.

I also updated a couple of deprecated and removed function calls that were giving me error messages when using commando commands.

Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V already work for me in the Console pane, on linux. What platform are you on?

I'm using Linux too (Arch Linux with i3 for a window manager). At first I thought i3 was intercepting these keystrokes but I tried running a different window manager, and it still didn't work. Maybe a full desktop environment such as GNOME would define these shortcuts for all applications, and I'm having problems because I'm using lightweight window managers.
