#982 OS X 10.5 Help Menu Very Slow

The help menu on OS X takes around 15 seconds to appear, with JEdit not responding during that time. The spinning colour wheel appears for most of the time. CPU usage sits at 100% during this time.

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
OS: Leopard 10.5.2
JEdit: 4.3pre13

To reproduce:
- remove ~/.jedit
- copy JEdit.app from jedit4.3pre13install.dmg to /Applications
- start JEdit and select Help menu or drag over to Help from another menu
