Hi jedit-users, I just found zen coding: ridiculously awesome for html! http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/11/21/zen-coding-a-new-way-to-write-html-code/ How difficult would it be to implement this in Jedit? Best, -Jose -- === I'm minimizing email (can write w one hand only) so if you have something that requires a long answer, please mail me a time slot and tel. number and I'll call you. Agreed, that is quite cool! I'm sure it's only a matter of time before someone writes a jEdit plugin for it now :-) On Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 11:03 AM, Sarah Cranston <cra...@gm...>wrote: > Wow, that's incredible. > > On Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 12:52 PM, Jose Quesada <qu...@gm...> wrote: > > Hi jedit-users, > > > > I just found zen coding: ridiculously awesome for html! > > > http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/11/21/zen-coding-a-new-way-to-write-html-code/ > |

That is a great idea. I'm thinking it should be added to the code completion in the XML plugin, since it provides code completion for both html and css. I don't have the time to get into this right now, but it would be great if someone did. Dale 2010/1/10 Alan Ezust <ala...@gm...> > Agreed, that is quite cool! Hi, it is late but I started ZenCoding implementation in SuperAbbrevs. It will ask ZenCoding to expand the abbreviation, if it is not ZenCoding abbrev, the standard abbrevs are used. My implementation is already in the trunk, and a compiled version is here http://community.jedit.org/?q=node/view/5021 Matthieu 2010/1/11 Dale Anson <da...@gr...> > That is a great idea. I don't understand something basic. Why would you use such a tool when you have WYSIWYG html editors that allow you to do these things with almost no typing? (e.g. Microsoft Office as well as many open source html editors). Shlomy 2010/1/11 RolandD Cyber Produksi <co...@cs...>: > That would indeed be an amazing feature. (e.g. Microsoft Office as well as many open source html editors). WYSWIG is good for end users or when you need to do something quick w/o much knowledge. WYSWIG unfortunately always suck if you want do something correctly, any WYSWIG I saw to date produces crappy output. And once you learn HTML syntax and practice you will be more effective with jEdit than more users with WYSWIG. PS: MS Office a good WYSWIG editor? Must be a joke :) Regards, -- "Daddy, what "Formatting drive C:" means?"... Marcin http://wfmh.org.pl/carlos/ |

Some WYSIWYG editors are easier to use than others, and some are more powerful than others, but across the board, everyone I've seen produces bloated, crappy HTML. Have you ever saved a Word document as HTML and looked at the output? This, on the other hand, is an easier way of entering hand-crafted HTML, so the output is as good as you are. But what about maintaining, which is the majority of site development effort? Template engines are a much better choice and better practice, than using text editor macros for creating html - it is just too easy to abuse. If it is too easy to type, you'll be more likely to copy'n'paste code. Bert |
