Your machine doesn't seem stable. Its not possible to say if this is because of a software or a hardware problem. X should hardly ever freezes, and strace certainly doesnt do anything special to warant an X freeze. What distro are you using? You seem to be using some yum repository for fresh rpm:s. Im using rh9 + PlanetCCRMA rpms for audio apps, with the dag and at repositories. Since I did this my box is slightly less stable than a stock rh9. Mysterious crashes with many programs can be a sign of a hardware
problem, perhaps a memory bug or a CPU overheat. One thing you can
do is try compiling a kernel, passing -j # to make to make make run #
jobs at once. If that crashes, that's a pretty good clue that
something is wrong at the hardware level.
In the case of jazz though, I suspect it's something else. Do you
have your JAZZ environment dir pointing to the right location with
all the appropriate files? You could try running jazz under strace
to see if it's missing any files or anything before it crashes:
strace jazz
If there's nothing like that happening, I would try out the latest CVS
source, just to see if it doesn't crash.

Sorry, but this is not what Jazz++ does. Jazz++ is a midi sequencer. Maybe the choice of name wasn't all that great. In regard to your problem, there are programs that do 'voice removal'. They work by determining which information is equaly present in each stereo channel, and removing those sounds. Its a fairly commonplace algorithm, even though it rarely works any good. Theres no direct corespendence with the yum segfault and the jazz segfault. However, it's odd that yum would segfault, and maybe theres something wrong with your installation in general. I would like to know if it is possible to utilize Jazzplusplus to eliminate or quiet instuments in exsisting jazz music purchased on cd = over the counter. I would like to be able to=20 play some of my favorate saxophone melodies with just the background = music only. But, you've come to the right place. Through not much fault of my own I have a version which runs on such newer systems. I've been meaning to upload it to the jazzplusplus SourceForge page.
