I just noticed that tivo added a Java SDK for developing remote applications for your TiVo box. This expands on the original HMO protocol and the new TiVo2Go protocol. It comes with samples and now it's possible to make games that don't have the requirement of appearing as an image on TiVo. They have a version of connect 4 and you can do animations and stuff, it's pretty cool.
The JavaHMO developers should convert all the plugins like weather, movie times, etc.. to use this new api and it will be a lot nicer than having them appear as plain images.
