Hi all, The migration to SVN went pretty smoothly. All of the revision history stored in CVS has now been restored in the new repository. The old CVS working directories should be deleted and replaced with a new version using the following command: % svn co https://iwor.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/iwor iwor SourceForge has also been complaining about updating to its new "Allura" platform, which is a new integrated interface and the default option for new projects. I'm thinking about performing this upgrade sometime in the future. Comments? Thanks, Kevin Zheng |

Greetings, First, a bit about myself: I discovered the IWOR project a short while ago and found that I really liked the idea. Aidin told me that the project was somewhat dead, so I decided to pick up where he left off. I look forward to moving the project forward a bit and seeing how far we can take it. I've decided that the first thing that needs to happen is to move the project away from CVS, which for a long time has been considered obsolete and insecure. This move should not affect anyone, considering that there has been little churn over the past few years. Nevertheless, be warned that no new changes should be made to the CVS repository until the migration is complete. Rest assured that plenty of backups will be made along the process. Thanks, Kevin Zheng |

Hi! I'm trying to create a robot, call `Stonebreaker', but it have some serious problems. I'm still working on it. You can get it by checking out a fresh source from CVS. Seems I'm not very good at this part, so I'm gonna make an issue on the `aigamedev.com', and ask them to help us in building some robots. With best wishes, Aidin P.S: I found that google reply system have some problem with our mailing list. If you simply press `reply' button in order to response to my mail, it will send directly to me, and not to the mail list address. So please don't do this! |

Hi! Thanks for your fast response! I'm really happy that see you as my co-developers again! Last NEWS: We have a better web-page now, a new GUI wrote in ncurses, and I'm working on a real intelligence robot. The things we need to do: -Writing some good robots. Without robots, we can't even say if our program works correctly! -Improve the Documents Maybe a better HandBook, or even a Wiki! SourceForge provide Wiki for us. But I don't now if it's a good idea to have a wiki. -Forums Fourms are very good, but we have to spend more time on them. -Simplify game usage Hmm ... Sometimes I think it's hard for someone who's not familiar with IWOR to run it without problem. Maybe we can simplify its usage, or write some better documents to help the user. What do you think guys? Above them all, we have reached our goal, and our program is complete. We need some new ideas about what to do next. I think we need some robots before we continue, in this case, we can find out what's wrong with our server, or what we can do to make it a better world for these sweety robots! Do you have any idea? With best wishes, Aidin |

Hi everyone, I'm really sorry about this. But I'm afraid that I can't come back until January. It's really not my fault. As you know, I live in a developing country, and my college is in a small town. College don't provide us Internet connection (the most fundamental tool for a student). What can I do? All I can do is to ask you to forgive me. But the project is not dead. At January, I will be graduated from the college and I will never come back to this damn small little town. Then we will put that on the line again. Sorry again, it really make me sad. I invite you to this, but I didn't come. Forgive me ... |

Hi Liang, Quimey I still can't access the CVS and other SF parts of the project. The truth is, I'm a student of college, and this is my last term. Me and my friend rent a little room for next 4 month, and there's no Internet access (not even phone line for dial-up connection). I heard there's a company nearby which provide wireless connection, but I don't know can I use it or not. I'm really sorry for this. I will do my best to get back on the job and continue working on IWOR. Until that day, I work on a robot which use A-Star algorithm for finding her way through the world. Best wishes, Aidin. |

Hello all:
I add a property "commands" which can be init by config file to
robot.When it finishes a "MOVE","PICK" or "DROP" command,the "commands"
will be reduced one.If the "commands" drop to zero
,the robot will be removed.

Hi all:
Since we have the same solution about the robot's aging.Counting down
the command number ,when it falls to zero ,the robot dies and is removed
from the world.Is that right?If so,I
will try to do it.

Hi everyone, I think that's a good idea to count robot's age by using the commands she sent. By counting robot's messages, must active robots will age sooner. But I think it's ok. They are robot! Made from metal and such materials. If they don't move, they will be remain healthy. What if a robot don't send any command for long time? We should find a way to detect such inactivity and remove them from the game. Alright, if no one have a better idea, it's OK. We can start working on it. Anyone interest in picking this job up? :) |

Hi team:
I left some days to celebrate a traditionnal of our country. Now i am
back:)
I think the better choice is to count the number that the robot send to
the server. And not all commands should be considered, just some of them.Like
MOVE,SHOOT,PICKUP,DROP,etc. The command about get info should not be
counted. When a robot is initialed ,it will get a command-num-countdown.If it
drop to zero,the robot can
just gather info,but do nothing.
What do you think that?
Regards
Yuliang

ToDo item #2103245, was opened at 2008-09-10 11:47 Message generated for change (Settings changed) made by aidin You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=1104717&aid=2103245&group_id=233820 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: None Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Aidin Gharibnavaz (aidin) >Assigned to: Aidin Gharibnavaz (aidin) Summary: Add a SHOOT command. Initial Comment: Robots should have the ability to kill each others. For doing this, each of them should have a shield (their life, health) and ability to use weapons. If shield of a robot destroy, she will die. TIPS: Add a shield variable to the `Robot' class, and related methods. Add a `isAlive()' method to the `Robot', so WorldHandler can check if the robot still alive or not. The format of `SHOOT' command is `SHOOT&direction&'. The bullet must move about 3 squares away from the robot in the specified direction. And if bullet hit a wall or something, it should be destroy. There's no need to add a bullet object or something into the game. Bullets are fast, so user can't see them. Just check if there's an object in the way of bullet and do the related actions. You can use `get(int, int)' method in the `SpareArray' to check if there's something in the spesific square. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=1104717&aid=2103245&group_id=233820 |

Hi everyone, I finished cloning ability for the project, fix a little bug about robot charging, and add two new options: ROBOT_INIT_ENERGY and FACTORY_INIT_ENERGY. Now I'm going to work on `SHOOT' command, the ability for robots to kill each other! Best Wishes, Aidin Gharibnavaz. |

Hi team, I just start working on the robots cloning. I had some ideas about it from the first day, so I didn't add it as a job in the ToDo list. I will handle that myself. So far, some part of it is completed. `INIT' command format is changed. Now robots need a legal key in order to join the game. There are three important jobs: cloning, aging, killing. After completing these jobs, we will release 0.1.0, first complete version of the IWOR. |
