This is more a 'curiosity question' than a real trouble.
As we are (finaly) opening iTop to a wider population, mostly with a read only access to the backend, as we "only" use the CMDB part, not the ticketing/problem/change/services part of iTop, we got an upstrem demand to remove all unneeded items from iTop.
For 'Incident Management', 'Problem Management', 'Change Management', no problem : running the setup allow us to not install/activate these parts.
But, for 'Service Management', we can choose between 'Enterprise service' and 'service provider service' (not the exact terms, got it from memory). there's no 'No services' option.
I created a very small extension, removing all items from the 'Service Management' menu, and the magic of iTop removed the 'Service Management' brick from the screen, so I was able to fulfill the upstream demand, but, just to know, is there a 'internal technical reason' explaining the lack of 'no service' option, or is that only because nobody asks (at least, asks loud enough :) ) until now ?
Thanks,
Pascal

Hello,
Just to mention that in the develop branch the modules below datamodels/2.x were refactored to offer more installation possibilities. Having a specific install.xml file running along could answer such question I think ? But this will be for iTop 3.0.0.

Hello Pascal,
No particular reason I guess 😁
So you did well by removing it through an extension!
Take care,
Guillaume
