Hello IPplan-developer

IPplan is a great tool. Thank you.
When will appear the next version?

Best regards,

The next version is currently being worked on. As for when it will be released, I am not too sure. There are rather large changes that need to be integrated correctly.

Do you have any hints of what exciting changes are in store?

I am installing the version 4.86a and will implement/customizing it for our company.
IPplan is a new tool for us. So, I think, our operators will not be happy, if they have to learn/use this version and in some months I will upgrade it. Large changes in new version.

So, shall I waiting for the new version?
Or, it will be easy to upgrade it?

It's been quite some time since this post or since a new release of IPplan.  Is this project still active?  It would be a shame for it to die on the vine given that there are so few options out there for open source IP address management.

In response to an email asking how the project was coming along, Richard Ellerbrock has confirmed that a new release is being readied for release.

I'm now evaluating verion 4.86a-2 since that's what's available in the repository of Ubuntu.
I'm starting with some customizations and then I noticed that the current version is 4.91a.

I'm trying to get 4.91 now installed from here, but I'm getting this error:
If you see this message, submit a detailed bug report on Sourceforge including the message below, the database platform used and the steps to perform to recreate the problem.

PHP 5.2.4-2ubuntu5.5 (Linux)
Unknown error type: [2] mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'ipplan'@'localhost' (using password: YES) Line: 339 File: /usr/share/ipplan-4.91/adodb/drivers/adodb-mysql.inc.php

Fatal error: Call to a member function Execute() on a non-object in /usr/share/ipplan-4.91/schema.php on line 44
I've had this kind of error before, when mysql had stored the passwd in new format and it resolved when converting to old format.
With 4.86 I'm using the old-format. Does 4.91 uses the new one?
4.86 is still working, but I cannot get 4.91 to get working with the same db?!

Any suggestions?

Have Fun, Chris.

Richard,

I did check out the FAQ and the Changelog diff, did not reveil a major change in PHP handling (I think).
I use the same config.php for both 4.86 and 4.91. It works for 4.86, but not for 4.91!

phpinfo() reveiled my setup:
Apache/2.2.8 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.2.4-2ubuntu5.5 with Suhosin-Patch mod_ssl/2.2.8 OpenSSL/0.9.8g mod_apreq2-20051231/2.6.0 mod_perl/2.0.3 Perl/v5.8.8
MySQL Support    enabled, Client API version     5.0.51a

What debugging can I enable to tackle this issue?

HF, Chris.

You cannot use the same config.php. Modify the config.php that came with the version you have installed and turn on DEGUB and DBF_DEBUG if you suspect a problem.
