How does (should?) IPCop handle the situation where at start-up there is not a DHCP server available on the red interface but one becomes available sometime later? I am running IPCOP v0.1.1 updated to fix 005. My red interface is to a cable modem. About a week ago our neighbourhood had a 20 minute power outage. When I checked the machine 6 hours later, the red interface had not restarted properly (i.e. had not got an IP via DHCP, etc.). I restarted the machine and the red interface came up fine Looking through the /var/log/messages I saw the following: Apr 22 23:15:48 dormarth dhcpcd[83]: timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server response I have skimmed the rc.network and rc.netaddress.up scripts and it looks to me that this case in not handled. Another question, what's the best way to reset networking without re-booting? Would executing rc.netaddress.up do the trick? Jim E-mail: jim...@tr... Ph: (902) 835-1575 Fax: (902) 835-0369 |
