It would be very helpful indeed if audio tracks could be played during preview.
Otherwise it's almost impossible to get any narration lined up with the images,
as you have to render the VOB each time you want to check your work.
I'm having the same problem. Simple slideshow, 2 images, 1 .mp3 file. The play button on the audio file says it's playing but it's not. Tried previewing and nothing happens. There's a reference in the docs to 'hovering' over the audio files to see if they're supported, but that didn't work either. (Also tried converting the .mp3 to .ogg, but no difference.)
I'm running this on Ubuntu 10.04, libsox-fmt-all is installed.
Based on the bug-list, looks to me like this app may have been abandoned.

Hi, I can play audio files on Linux Mint 15 but NOT in the preview, that's NOT supported. Please run Imagination from the console and paste here the messages if any.

Ticket moved from /p/imagination/bugs/76/
Audio files can now be played during the preview. This was done in r643.
