I'm not sure what's going on but here's whats
happening: I downloaded and installed latest
torcp/tor/privoxy bundle (1.0.17) I have AOL 9.0 and
use it to dialup, I set the proxy settings in IE 6,
for both the dialup connection and also for the lan
settings, I notice that when I try to check the
status of privoxy it tells me that it isn't being
used, I have read the things about clearing the
cache, I did all that but still i get Privoxy is not
being used yet both programs (TORCP and Privoxy) are
running and are enabled TOR tells me it was able to
log onto a circuit and privoxy has a green icon and
is enabled but still that problem of checking its
status it still tells me its not being used. I did
read a post on the sourceforge privoxy forums and
read that aol 9.0 ignored IE proxy settings. Anyway
what i noticed was that when I am logged off of AOL
and I try to check the status it will actually give
me the user interface but it will tell me its not
being used when i sign back on. Thanks for the help
and the time.

Yes, AOL will ignore the proxy settings. Attempt to work
around this by using the TorCP interface and setting up
Mozilla Firefox. This should give you more anon settings.
Using the TorCP (taskbar) interface is a sure way of protection.

I downloaded Firefox but have yet to install it, does this

You can surf happily with both IE and Firefox. Are you
still having trouble?
