This seems overly complicated to me. How many users do you expect to interpret these statistics correctly? As previously mentioned on the mailing list I think the buffer size should eventually be auto-tuned within specified limits. In the meantime we could simply use a value that is expected to work reasonably well. curl's buffer size was recently changed to 100k and we could use the same value until somebody comes up with data that shows that another value is superior. For most Privoxy setups 100k...

If you use the forward-override{} action instead of a config file directive the action including its parameters (which contain the proxy) can be logged by logging the applying actions (debug 65536). The syntax is similar, for details see: When you use the action, the forwarding settings will additionally be included in the Connect messages you can enable with "debug 2", but this will also result in lots of other messages you may...

You could start with: debug 1 # Log the destination for each request Privoxy let through. See also debug 1024. debug 2 # show each connection status debug 4 # show I/O status debug 8 # show header parsing debug 512 # Common Log Format debug 1024 # Log the destination for requests Privoxy didn't let through, and the reason why. debug 4096 # Startup banner and warnings. debug 8192 # Non-fatal errors Logging all data that is unlikely to help. The "time telnet" command indeed showed that the connection...

Connection closed by foreign host. real 0m0.074s user 0m0.000s sys 0m0.013s If Privoxy would terminate the client connection without sending any message, the browser would likely repeat the request and if the connection is accepted the second time this could hide the problem....

Your report is a bit light on details but my interpretation is that that you are running some kind of VPN software on your client system, use the browser on the client system and expect it to first use Privoxy on the "DD-WRT-Router" and then the VPN. Is that correct? If it is, it's not expected to work that way because if the browser is using the VPN directly, the traffic reaching the "DD-WRT-Router" will be encrypted already. While it's conceivable that you could change the VPN software to tunnel...
