Privoxy 3.0.21 for windows
windows server 2008 r2 standard service pack 1

Hi,
I would like help with editing privoxy settings in order to allow me to do the following.
I have 2 isps, cable and telephone.
I have nat set for cable isp.
telephone isp is not used for nat.
i wish force tor to use the telephone isp, all other traffic to use cable isp.

i thought it would be possible to set tor to use privoxy, ie set tor with say 127.0.0.1:8118 or maybe telephone nic ip address:8118
once tor traffic hit privoxy forward? traffic to the telephone isp.
since i would not make changes to browsers etc they would hit the nat and traffic would use the cable isp.

atm nat works find, without running privoxy.
telephone isp is not being used, which is expected.

is it possible to do what i have outlined with privoxy?
or would i need to use some other method.
if other method, then pointers to the right direction would fantastic.
Thanks
neil

If I don't misunderstand the requirement, you may be able to
use Tor's OutboundBindAddress option for this. Quoting the man page:

    | OutboundBindAddress IP
    | Make all outbound connections originate from the IP address
    | specified. This is only useful when you have multiple network
    | interfaces, and you want all of Tor's outgoing connections to use a
    | single one. This option may be used twice, once with an IPv4
    | address and once with an IPv6 address. This setting will be ignored
    | for connections to the loopback addresses (127.0.0.0/8 and ::1).

A similar feature is on Privoxy's TODO list (#77) but hasn't
    been implemented yet.

While Tor can use Privoxy as proxy, this is not a common setup
and usually Privoxy is using Tor as proxy instead. This is documented
    here: http://www.privoxy.org/faq/misc.html#TOR

From your description it's not clear to me if you need Privoxy at all, though.

    Fabian,
    Thank you for your reply.

It is possible that I do not need Privoxy.

However there is an issue with the information you provided.
I installed Tor by downloading and running the Vidalia Exit Bundle.

I am unsure where I would use OutBoundBindAddress IP.
Whilst I do have a Tor folder under the Vidalia Exit Bundle folder, the only text files I can find are in a sub folder from the Tor folder called Documents.
    Those text files are empty.

I figured that since I am able to specify a proxy with the vidalia gui, I would use Privoxy and bind that to a nic.

The Tor configuration file is usually called torrc, it's possible
that Windows doesn't display it with a "text file" icon because
it doesn't have a .txt extension.

You also may be able to edit the file through Vidalia:
Settings -> Advanced -> Edit current torrc

Given that this is not Privoxy-related and that I don't use Vidalia
or Tor on Windows you may want to direct additional questions about
this to the Tor support channels mentioned on their website.

Yes I found I can edit the tocc file in the gui.
I believe as you said I will not need to use Privoxy in the manner I outlined.
As such this can be closed.
Thank you for your support, you did indeed point me in the right direction.
