After having privoxy installed, the feature where I can write "gmail" into my address and have google forward me to gmail.com - this one is disabled now. Is there a way to have it back?

There isn't any way for Privoxy to handle this same functionality. The problem is it captures all the URLs. There isn't an easy way to give it back. If there are a handful of situations like this that regularly come up, you can use the redirect action to act like a shortcut. You redirect 'g' to gmail for instance. But you have to configure each one of these.
