#1123 privoxy 3.0.10 on OS X 10.5 "hangs"
I cannot use privoxy suddenly. I was happily using it until this week. I went away on vacation and now when I try to connect, I can connect to config.privoxy.org without problem, but any other URL just hangs and times out. Privoxy seemingly acts like a firewall. I am not sure what might have changed, which is of course frustrating for troubleshooting. This happens even when connecting to privoxy from the localhost. I have the proxy prefs in the control panel set to http proxy on 8118. The security settings are to allow all traffic.
If I try telnet localhost 8118, it makes a successful connection. Privoxy just disallows or fails to connect out from my host. I can't tell what's wrong, help!
Please post the actual error message you get.
There is no error message. To "hang" means to stop responding. That was the behavior.
The problem turns out to have been what I see as a bug in Apple's security software. When my brother logged into the console of my machine, the firewall started asking him to allow connections, even though the preferences were set to allow all network traffic. I have notified Apple of this bug. Privoxy is now functioning properly.
