Category: None Group: None >Status: Pending Priority: 5 Submitted By: david bonde (david-bo) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Automatic refresh Initial Comment: I have added the following line to the relevant templates <meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="30"> to allow the browser to automatically refresh pages that failed to load. Most of the time this works very well and the page loads fine on the second attempt. In other cases when a web server is down longer, e.g., for the weekend, it is a waste of cpu cycles as well as slowing down browsing in other windows. Would it be possible through some javascript magic to increase the reload interval for every new attempt? Even better would be if I could set a maximum reload interval, e.g., one hour, so that the reload interval doubles until it reaches this max value. Suggestions? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Fabian Keil (fabiankeil) Date: 2006-09-30 13:58 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=875547 David (Bonde), could you please give Privoxy 3.0.5 beta a try? It has some improvements and will retry if DNS timeouts occur or (optionally) if a forwarded request failed. These are the most common cases where a retry would make sense and should be good enough. Personally I don't think it would be a good idea to always refresh/retry without checking what the reason of the error was. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: david bonde (david-bo) Date: 2006-08-05 09:21 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=264045 Please reopen this request. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: SourceForge Robot (sf-robot) Date: 2006-08-05 02:20 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1312539 This Tracker item was closed automatically by the system. I think the guts of Privoxy could take on the task of replacing an insert in the templates (as you probably saw loads of examples of), but there isn't any state information around when going back for a second or third time to know what to fall back to. A js solution on the page side might provide a means of keeping some state around. Any js programmers out there...? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=211118&aid=1507465&group_id=11118 |
