Category: other Group: 3.0.x Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Jeremy E Cath (zzarg) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Is Privoxy still evolving? Initial Comment: just wondering, From 3.02 to 3.03 was a year, but it's been two years since and no 3.04! curious to see if it's still evolving, especially given it's position in (say) TOR and the general benefit from it? For a simpler UI I've been looking at other options, but Privoxy seems to be the most powerful (while a little geeky in UI) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Hal Burgiss (hal9) Date: 2006-02-20 21:25 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=322640 Privoxy may be benefiting from TOR, but not vice versa. There is hardly any interest from anyone. When I say "interest" I mean interest backed up by a time commitment to do something. It is easy to say this or that, but few are willing to actually do anything. Or they just have other priorities. Yes, it is sad that despite much more open source interest over all, projects like Privoxy have much less community support than they did 4 or 5 years ago. David added multi-filter support in January: $Id: config,v 1.39.2.17 2006/01/31 The way the branching is, it tends to hide some of this. But the point remains, there is little activity. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2006-02-20 20:25 Message: Logged In: NO No, it's not. Unless developers are making changes but not uploading them to CVS, or they do everything at once, it's been 16 months since the last CVS change I can find (checking for corrupt JPEGs). Almost everything is 2 or 3 years since the last change. It's sad really, there are things that Privoxy should support but doesn't, like compression. It's obvious that with Tor, the Privoxy community has grown; more and more people are hearing about privoxy and seeing the easy and huge results it gets. Maybe someone will pick it up again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Steven (smkolins) Date: 2006-02-15 08:10 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1439894 I've also been wondering about development. There is a patch to facilitate virus scanning of content and comments that it should make it into 3.0.3 but it's not there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=211118&aid=1432106&group_id=11118 |
