Category: None Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Newbie wants to have his cake and eat it Initial Comment: It seems like there must be a way to get the best of both worlds. I use a proxy server at home and would like to be able to use Privoxy and Tor together to protect my family's anonymity, but I don't want to have to give up the efficiency afforded by being able to cache web and dns requests within my LAN. Is there any way that can Privoxy and Tor can be configured to allow me/us to do this? I've tried to read as much of the the documentation as possible and have made an effort as well to read the postings on this forum. While I've seen stuff on performance and stuff on using these apps through a single server, other than the initial statement made in the installation instructions that this application will only get better if more people agree to participate in setting up their own server, I haven't seen anything that addresses this directly. I hope that I'm not being obnoxious by asking about this. I'd be happy to set up a server for TOR and don't want to seem selfish in saying this; but if I'm willing to do provide bandwidth, is it unreasonable to want to see better performance for doing so? On the probability that this is me failing to read something that I was supposed to read that addresses this, I'm posting this here as the other documentation says that this is where "users" are supposed to go for questions. If someone reading this thinks that this is better directed elsewhere please advise, thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=211118&aid=1416764&group_id=11118 |
