[ijbswa-devel] Semaphore protection for statistics

Everybody -

It bugs me that blocking statistics are affected by browsing the i.j.b setup
pages.  I notice that cgisimple.c has a snippet of code blocked off that took
care of the problem in a non-threadsafe way:

   /*
    * Need to alter the stats not to include the fetch of this
    * page.
    *
    * Can't do following thread safely! doh!
    *
    * urls_read--;
    * urls_rejected--; * This will be incremented subsequently *
    */

I was considering adding a simple cross-platform sempahore mechanism.  Are
there philosophical/historical reasons why I should not do so?  (We're
getting close to beta release, etc...)
