Category: configuration Group: None >Status: Pending Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Binding public IP to computer behind NAT router for Privoxy Initial Comment: Hopefully my summary is clear, and if not, hopefully the following paragraph will clarify my question. 'Binding public IP to computer behind NAT router for Privoxy' I have problems getting Privoxy to allow people to call it from an IP that isn't assigned to an adapter on the computer that is running the server. Question: How do I allow a computer on the Internet/WAN to access the Privoxy proxy that is behind a NAT router. Goal: Use a computer from the internet to access a website through a private proxy server. (Hosted myself). Where as I can visit a site from IP abc.def.def.abc, and have site believe I'm actually at aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd. Here is the scenario. --Location 1-- Proxy Server -- Router/Firewall - Proper Configuration to allow inbound on port 8118 to be forwarded to 192.168.0.2 * Private IP - 192.168.0.1 * Public IP - aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd (assume valid IP) * Assume ISP doesn't block chosen port Computer A - Behind router, assume proper firewall configuration to allow for communications in from the WAN on port 8118, and outbound on any port. * Private IP - 192.168.0.2 * Assume permit-access for IP abc.def.def.abc * Assume no other service is listening on chosen port. --Location 2-- Proxy Client -- Router/Firewall - Generic internet sharing router, no blocks of any kind. * Private IP - 192.168.0.1 * Public IP - abc.def.def.abc Computer B - Firefox or Internet Explorer Browser * Private IP - Any acceptable IP * Browser configured to use aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd:8118 proxy. If you need further clarification, please let me know. Assuming you don't have firewall issues on that host system, this should all "work" once the NAT device is configured. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=211118&aid=2446156&group_id=11118 |
