(IE 5.0), although finding the machine via "Chooser:connect to server: IP-adress). can anybody help? thx in advance harry ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: David Schmidt (david__schmidt) Date: 2003-01-27 17:57 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=249980 Sorry, Harry - I missed that part of the qustion. Yes, it will work. You will need to modify the 'config' file in Privoxy's folder to open it up to others on your network, though. Take a look at section 4.1, listen-address in that file. The easiest thing is to just leave off the IP address, so the line that normally looks like this: listen-address 127.0.0.1:8118 instead looks like this: listen-address :8118 But read over the section in the config file. You may want to tighten down security more than that depending on the networking situation you're in. If you are at home behind a firewall, opening Privoxy up is pretty safe; if you're out there on the Internet, you'll probably want to restrict exactly who can be using your machine as the Privoxy proxy. - David ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: harry (harry1967) Date: 2003-01-27 17:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=698412 david - privoxy running on the osX machine. the os9 is trying to connect to this machine. therefore the localhost would not work. instead i gave the ip-adress of the osx machine and port 8118 as proxy setting. according to the docs, this should work, shouldn't it? thx for answering harry ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: David Schmidt (david__schmidt) Date: 2003-01-27 17:25 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=249980 Harry - I've never tried it from OS9... can you configure IE 5.0 to use 127.0.0.1 instead of 'localhost'? - David ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=211118&aid=675737&group_id=11118 |
