It seems like the problem I had. In the code that generated the errormsg (in file ifp.c) is controlled by an 'if'. Replace that 'if' part with only what's in the if, ie #if 0 if (usb_find_devices() <= 0) { fprintf(stderr,"no usb devices found (nor hubs!)\n"); return 1; } #else usb_find_devices(); #endif This depends on libusb version.
