[id3lib-devel] package conflicts with zlib!

I've downloaded the id3lib-3.8.3 tarball and built an RPM 
package using the included spec file. when I try to 
install the package I have a problem: 

# rpm -Uvh id3lib-3.8.3-1.i386.rpm

file /usr/lib/libz.so.1 from install of id3lib-3.8.3-1 conflicts 
with file from package zlib-1.1.3-25.7 

so why is the library called libz and not libid3lib?? it 
conflicts with zlib, the compression util! see 
http://www.gzip.org/zlib/ 

help! can someone please e-mail me since I don't visit
