Bugs item #1088292, was opened at 2004-12-20 10:27 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by captnmark You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100031&aid=1088292&group_id=31 Category: icewm-1.2 Group: behavior Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Jorge López (adobo) Assigned to: Marko Macek (captnmark) Summary: Gaim new windows raised and focused Initial Comment: I have commented this bug in gaim bugs section, but they said a lot of times that this was an IceWM one. When a new windows is opened by Gaim, it gets focus and gets raised on top. I have disabled the Gaim option that raises new conversations, but IceWM continues to raise and focus them. This is really annoying when you're typing anything in other window (imagine that's a password!) and a Gaim conversation gets focus. You're now typing in the new window, so you have to manually change to the previous window and retype some things... I have tried several winoption configurations, such as noFocusonAppRaise and so, but with no success. I have seen this behavior in IceWM 1.2.15 to IceWM 1.2.18, and this behavior doesn't seem to be present in other WMs or desktops environments. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Marko Macek (captnmark) Date: 2004-12-27 11:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1814 Using this: FocusOnMap=0 FocusOnMapTransient=1 FocusOnMapTransientActive=1 RaiseOnFocus=0 will cause the windows to be shown as usual, but not focused. Keeping the windows behind currently active window is planned for the future. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jorge López (adobo) Date: 2004-12-20 12:21 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=848443 Hi, I have seen that other window managers usually keep the window in background, maybe with "urgent-hint" (blinking) on taskbar, but not focused. I have read about this problem with Gaim on several sites: * Gaim bug?: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=1030619&group_id=235 * XFCE bug?: http://lunar-linux.org/pipermail/xfce-bugs/2004-August/001425.html But noone knows how to fix this issue. It seems that Metacity is affected too. In case this isn't a bug... Is there any option to get a behavior like described above one? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Eduard Bloch (thefirstone) Date: 2004-12-20 10:51 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=935104 Sorry, but what do "other WMs" do in a such case? If a window is a new window appears with "raise-it" flag, should they delay it and show... say, 10 seconds after you typed your last char? Or how does the perfect behaviour look in your eyes? Or do you want manual window placement? Then configure it this way. You are bitching about disturbing behaviour but do not give any concrete hints. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100031&aid=1088292&group_id=31 |
