Sorry for the delay, I've been away for a little while ... In reply to Gert, I was (still am;-) using 1.0.9-2. In reply to Mathias, I use the "blue plastic" theme, although I think I tried some other themes, without effect. I don't believe the XPM file was broken/corrupted at any point. It worked fine with the "default" compilation, but not "gnome". I used the standard "gnome" distribution, since I'm too new to Linux to be playing around doing my own compilations. Anyway, as I said earlier, I'm not fussed. I don't care to use bloated XPM images anyway. BTW, I use Jih-Shin Ho's "Display V1.90t5" (DOS) to convert files between JPG and XPM formats (or others). OK, so this program has a lousy user interface, but I'm used to it and it has plenty of features.
