Read a part from a discution from hplip-devel, the autor of this partial=20 email is Till Kamppeter. /Hi, two weeks ago (before the Printing Summit in Lexington) I have observed=20 that faxing with HPLIP 1.6.7, 1.6.9, and 1.6.10 works without problem=20 under Mandriva 2007 (released three weeks ago) and does not work at all=20 with Ubuntu Edgy/6.10 (released last week). Under Ubuntu Dapper/6.06=20 faxing works, too. After some discussion with Donald Welch and Phil Thompson we found out=20 that on the transition from PyQt 3.15 to 3.16 a new bug was introduced=20 which broke inter-process communication (IPC) between hpssd and=20 hp-sendfax (a fax job sent into the "hpfax:/..." queue is forwarded to=20 the hp-sendfax of the user who sent the job by hpssd and supposed to=20 stay in the CUPS queue when hp-sendfax is not running in the sender's=20 account). From PyQt 3.16 on Fax jobs sent out by hpssd seem to run into=20 a black hole instead of being picked up by hp-sendfax. Debugging this is very complicated for end users and even experienced=20 system administrators: / For the photocard access there is the out put from hp-toolbox. /The photocard on your printer are only available by mounting them as drives using USB mass storage. Please refer to your distribution's documentation for setup and usage instructions./ Can you point me to that and where to find a documentation for my=20 printer, computer and distro. On the HPLIP home page the how to for the photocard are not there, or if=20 you have them or a beta, alpha, i will be happy to look at this. Anyway thanks for your help. --- Eric Muller |
