Allan, also according to this: http://sysadminforum.com/showthread.php?t=1552050 >From your hp-check you are missing several required dependencies: For networking to work this one must be working, which would explain why HPLIP can't use your network printer. Checking for dependency libnetsnmp-devel - SNMP networking library development files... error: Not found! error: This is a REQUIRED dependency. Please make sure that this dependency is installed before installing or running HPLIP. Then on your installed printers: lj -- Device URI: hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_1200?serial\0CNCY161548 Installed in HPLIP? Yes PPD: /etc/cups/ppd/lj.ppd PPD Description: HP LaserJet 1200 Postscript (recommended) Printer status: printer lj is idle. enabled since Tue Jun 19 20:58:48 2007 The Device URI is incorrect. It should look like: hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_1200?serial=0CNCY161548 The \ should be a =. You may want to refer to this doc: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HPLIP for more assistance. Really when it comes to Gentoo because of Gentoo complications and the many ways it can be customized we don't support installing HPLIP on it. However it should work, and many Gentoo users have reported success in getting it to work. Hope this helps.
