For the people out there saying that this does not work on Debian, I have it installed and working directly through the apt package manager on Debian 13 (current testing branch). The dependency-fetching part of this install script is broken, but the one maintained in the official repository should go fine. Simply: sudo apt install hplip hplip-data hplip-doc hplip-gui

I like the idea, but interface but not working on Debian, I quite assume that it doesn't work on Ubuntu either. It has rhel dependencies listed so it won't find them apt-based packages. Please update the description on the HP site that it should be installed with: sudo apt install hplip hplip-data hplip-doc hplip-gui libsane-hpaio Or at least that's what worked for me on Debian 12.
