gImageReader is a simple Gtk/Qt front-end to tesseract. Features include: - Import PDF documents and images from disk, scanning devices, clipboard and screenshots - Process multiple images and documents in one go - Manual or automatic recognition area definition - Recognize to plain text or to hOCR documents - Recognized text displayed directly next to the image - Post-process the recognized text, including spellchecking - Generate PDF documents from hOCR documents **Note**: This page is only a mirror for the downloads. OSS Document Scanner is a free, open-source mobile application designed for scanning, organizing, and exporting physical documents. It transforms smartphone camera images into digital documents using automatic edge detection and perspective correction. Users can adjust scanned pages through cropping, rotation, and image enhancement filters. Its integrated optical character recognition extracts searchable text from scanned documents. The software supports multipage PDFs with optional OCR text layers. Documents can be organized into folders and shared or exported as needed. Optional synchronization and backup capabilities help users maintain their collections across devices. Available for Android and iOS, OSS Document Scanner processes documents locally and includes no advertising or tracking.

SANEWinDS: SANE Windows Data Source. Enables SANE scanners installed on unix-like hosts, including thin clients, to be accessed from Windows workstations and terminal servers. Can be used standalone or as a TWAIN Data Source. Implemented in a DLL for easy integration within other .Net programs.

The DSM manages the interactions between TWAIN applications and TWAIN Data Sources for the acquisition of images from scanners and cameras. This DSM is open source software and uses LGPL licenses.

pcdtojpeg converts PCD (Kodak Photo CD) image files into high quality JPEG images. Conversions are at the maximum available PCD resolution, and are fully color managed - no blown highlights or color casts. A C++ PCD decoder library is also available.

YASW (Yet Another Scan Wizard) is an application used to correct images taken with a camera. It can be used to post process the scanning of a book (see http://http://www.diybookscanner.org/ ) or to correct an individual image taken with our camera (A poster in the street). Scan Tailor is an interactive post-processing tool for scanned pages. It performs operations such as page splitting, deskewing, and removing garbage.

Scanning albums is not an easy task, since the extraction of actual photographs within scans is usually very tedious. This tool allows you to scan as much as you can fit into your scanner and then semi-automatedly extract the contained photographs. OpenExif is an object-oriented library for accessing Exif formated JPEG image files. The toolkit allows creating, reading, and modifying the metadata in the Exif file. It also provides means of getting and setting the main image and the thumbnail image.

ScanTWAIN is an Open Source TWAIN production quality scanning application based on QT 3.x. ScanTWAIN allows for duplex scanning from automatic document feeder (ADF) based scanners via TWAIN.

minidjvu is a DjVu encoder for black-and-white images.

The Hewlett-Packard Co. Linux Inkjet Driver Project has moved!

Scanner Copier scans multiple pages in Windows and prints them as a single document. This can be used in conjunction with PDFCreator in order to make PDF files from scanned documents similar to other 'scan to PDF' software.

Graphical interface for Cuneiform OCR

The development has moved to KDE (kdegraphics and extragear). The new names are libksane for the library and Skanlite is the application.

Akshara Malayalam OCR is a project for the development of an OCR for printed and handwritten documents in Malayalam language. The inspiration is from similar OCR softwares in other languages etc.

A Qt GUI for archiving old floppies, CD-ROMs and other types of media to organized collections of disk image files, along with scanned images of the disks' physical appearance so that you can find them later by their familiar looks.

An omnifont OCR engine. The long-term goal is recognition of formulas.

It uses libksane to scan images and allows to save to basic graphics format and to pdf (also multiply images to one pdf file)
