Newbie question: THE says it supports ooRexx, so I installed it without the Regina option after installing ooRexx. Now when I try to start THE it says it won't run because Regina.dll is missing. Does this mean I have to install Regina as well even though I want to use ooRexx? Thanks guys. - Jeff

It sounds like you (partially) installed Regina and then added ooRexx WITHOUT removing Regina.
Although there is a way to switch between the two interpreters, I've never tried it. If you want to use
ooRexx, I suggest you remove Regina and then re-install 32bit ooRexx. Btw: there is no 'Regina' option for installing ooRexx, so it's unclear what you are referring to.

What version of THE did you install? The last stable release is 3.3B3. RC2 (Release Candidate 2) is still undergoing testing.

    Hi Les,

Thanks for the help. No, Regina has never been installed on my computer - it's actually a very clean machine as it was completely wiped and reinstalled within the last couple months.

I'm installing THE version 3.3RC1. One of the first options during installation says "Select components to install." One of the listed components - checked by default - is "Regina Rexx Interpreter." I unchecked it and proceeded with the installation. I'm happy to email you a screenshot if that helps.

After the installation completes, I try to launch THE and get a system error saying "The program can't start because regina.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

    Any idea what's happening?

    Thanks,

    - Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
Sorry, but I have no idea what's happening. It's been WAY to long since I installed RC1 and since I'm a beta tester I often get direct updates from Mark. I suggest you uninstall RC1, then download and install RC2.
Btw: I presume you have installed the latest ooRexx?

Btw: Unless you have a requirement for one of the new features, I recommend 3.3b3. It's much more stable.

Email me via SF and I'll give you my regular email address if you'd like some direct help, perhaps via TeamViewer. I'm also on W7.

If you get an option to install Regina then you have downloaded the version of THE built for Regina. That is it has "Regina" in the filename of the downloaded file.

If you want to use ooRexx with THE then download the installation file that has "ooRexx" in the filename.

    Cheers, Mark

AHA! Mark - that's it! Like I said - rookie mistake. When you go to the download page for THE, the first thing you say is a line saying "Looking for the latest version? Download THE33RC1w32_Regina.exe (1.9 MB)" So that's the one I clicked.

Anyway thanks Mark and Les. I'll sort things out from here. FYI I'm an old hotshot (former anyway) mainframe Rexx/Kedit - which in my day was "Xedit" - guy. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands dirty again! :-)

    Jeff,
VM and Xedit at IBM is my background as well. I have a HUGE set of THE tools you can make instant use of. Send me an email so we can communicate directly. SF won't let me post some links I think you'll find helpful.

    Les
